East Barnet School heat of Rotary Young Chef

On 13th January 2016, Rotarian Ian Butcher, his wife Evelyn and Rotarian Ginette Baker had the pleasure of judging the East Barnet School heat of Young Chef.

A variety of food from all over the world was on offer; the standard of food hygiene was very high and great culinary skills were demonstrated.

From the 12 entrants listed on the document attached, three winners emerged:

  1. Porter Locke with her chicken and mushroom pie with leek mash, with tender stem broccoli and Chantenay carrots.
  2. Aaliyah Rari with her chicken breast, wilted spinach, creamy mushroom sauce, twice-cooked seeded potatoes, and a green bean salad.
  3. Katie-Mia Diamandi with her Catalunia paella with freshly made flat bread.

We are looking forward to the opportunity of meeting all the contestants again soon in order to deliver their certificates and prizes to the first three.

Thank you very much to E Connor Head of department at EBS for doing all the organising in school and to Sugra Tahir for advising and coordinating the competition on behalf of Rotary.
