Fifth Rotary in North London DisAbility Games

For the fifth year running, Rotary Clubs in North London organised a DisAbility Games at the Aspire Centre in Stanmore.

Inspired by the 2012 Paralympics and the successful disabled games events run by Rotary clubs across the whole of the country, disabled adults had the opportunity to take part and win medals at Table Tennis, Boccia and Bowls as well as a number of sports for wheelchair users and the visually impaired.

Teams of disabled participants from Harrow, Edgware and Borehamwood, as wells as further afield from Gerrards Cross to Walthamstow took part with 69 in total including 5 wheelchair users and a number of blind and visually impaired.

The event was organised by 11 Rotary Clubs in North London and was again a great success and enjoyed by all those taking part. The organiser Scott Maclachlan of Barnet thanked all the Rotary Clubs for their hard work on the day and hope to see everybody again next year.

The District Governor Helen Antoniou was there to help present the medals assisted by Mayor of Hertsmere, Cllr Pete Rutledge, and Mayor of Borehamwood Clive Butchins.

Rotary Clubs taking part were: Barnet, Bush Hill Park, Edgware and Stanmore, Edmonton, Elstree and Borehamwood, Enfield Chase, Golders Green, London Centenary (E-Club), Northwick Park, Radlett, Southgate.
