Rotarian Brian Coleman presents Mrs Jean Field of the Finchley Charities with a bag of Purple Crocus bulbs to be planted in the grounds of the sheltered housing run by the Finchley Charities.
The Finchley Charities has existed since 1488 and provides housing and charitable assistance for those in need across the London Borough of Barnet. The Purple Crocus is the symbol of the “End Polio Now Campaign” and Barnet Rotary Club is raising money by selling Crocus bulbs as well as donating them to local organisations.
Mrs Field said “We are grateful to the Barnet Rotary Club and I am sure our residents will appreciate the splash of colour next spring as well as remembering the great danger that Polio was when many of our residents were younger“.
